BODY PARTS (1991)

This is one creepy ass movie. It's an intriguing, haunting concept that almost lives up to it. The movie centers around psychiatrist/family man played by Jeff Fahey who has an awful accident and looses his arm. While under his wife signs him up for an experimental procedure to attach a strangers arm. At first he's thankful for the medical miracle but he than soon begins to get horrific visions and looses control of his arm in one instance almost killing his wife. Soon after he discovers that other people have received the surgery and the donor is coming back to claim his property. The finale leaves a bit too be desired but its filled with some truly grotesque and nightmarish moments.

A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET (1984)

Wes Craven made this masterpiece in 1984, inspired by an article of a young man dying violently in his sleep after complaining about horrible nightmares. The movie centers around a group of friends getting stalked by the infamous dream maniac. That us until Nancy is done taking his shit and decides to fight back. Robert Englund is undoubtedly amazing as Freddy. His first incarnation of the character is darker, mean and disturbingly playful. Nancy played by a fierce Heather Lagenkamp may be genre's most proactive final girl. After watching her friends get murdered she truly takes matters into her own hands. She sets a trap filled with booby traps and a truly inspired plan. By now I'm sure everyone has seen this film. For me it's a masterpiece because Craven develops his brilliant fluidity perfected in the Scream franchise, he is truly a master and my favorite director and he will be sorely missed. The movie can be over the top, melodramatic and wonderfully campy at times but it's also scary as hell and is the gold standard of films of it's kind.

HALLOWEEN II (1981)

I definitely one of those who prefer the 1981 version to the 2018. Although I think that's a better film this one is way more fun, sleazy and entertaining. Picking up right after the events of the first film Laurie is rushed to the hospital where Michael follows and continues his killing spree. It also revealed that Laurie is his sister. The film has a great dread induced  atmosphere and some great shocks. But there is an air of ridiculousness about it. Some of the kills feel very silly like the iv death. That being said the cinematography is great and its very fun.

I STILL KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER

I wasn't a big fan of this when first seeing it. I relished the first film and just thought it was kind of lackluster and dumb. But over the years I've developed a fondness for the films absurdity and ridiculous plotting. I actually enjoy the film a lot now on it's own merits. The chase scenes are fantastically executed and the film is a huge guilty pleasure. This time around Julie and her roommate win a trip to the bahamas and find themselves being hunted by the infamous fisherman. Sexy Freddie Prinze Jr., Mekhi Pfeiffer, Jennifer Esposito and a truly awful Jack Black also star.

MOTHER'S BOYS

Jamie Lee Curtis rules in this trashy, melodramatic 90s erotic thriller. She stars as the sociopathic, bi polar mother of 3 boys who took off and abandoned him with their father played by Peter Gallagher. Years later she returns after hes gotten his life together, his boys are happy and there's a new woman in his life played by Joanne Whaley Kilmer. The movie is gaudy and inappropriate in the most entertaining lifetimey way. Ranging from exposing herself to her son to smashing a picture into her face and cutting herself with class. It's the kind of balls to the walls performance that makes a movie like this and it really does. Sure it's a bit cliched but there's a reason why they make so many of these and it's because the formula is pretty fun and when they get a diva as their lead performance it's in the bag.

SCREAM 4

I'm an uber fan of the Scream series. Although this didn't get much love when it initially came out it's definitely built up quite a following over the years. The Brilliant and missed master of horror Wes Craven a.k.a my favorite director revives the franchise with a fresh spin that's more relevant than ever. Sidney returns to her hometown 10 years later to promote a new book and is thrown back into the mix with a whole new slew of victims and some really grotesque and brutal death setpieces. A feisty Courtney Cox and David Arquette also return with a fierce no shit taking Neve Campbell. As for the new kids a cool ass Hayden Panitierre steals all of her scenes, with a hilarious Emma Roberts, a solid Rory Culkin and sexy ass Nico Tortorella. Anna Paquin, Kristen Bell, Allison Brie, Marley Shelton, Anthony Anderson, cutie Adam Brody and Mary Mcdonell. Although not the best entry or sequel in the franchise it's an ambitiously entertaining horror fest. It without a doubt has the most clever opening of the series and has an intriguing and disturbing start of what could have been a new amazing trilogy. Sadly Wes Craven wasn't doing well while filming it but finally all these layers it's being resurrected by Blumhouse "Halloween" style without my idol Kevin Williamson and without Craven which I'm not too excited about. That being said this is a criminally under rated sequel that's finally getting the love it deserves.

BRAM STOKER'S DRACULA (1992)

I saw this in theaters when I was twelve and it just blew me out of my seat and opened my young queer mind up to fantastical, set design, glorious costumes, dramatic performances, a wonderous score and very sexy and talented Gary Oldman. A more faithful adaptation of the classic novel than ever before. The film chronicles the tragic, grotesque and beautiful love story of Vlad the impaler and his live Mina whose been played by a stunning and passionate Winona Ryder. The film also stars a slightly goofy Keanu Reeves, Cary Elwes, Sadie Frost and a fierce Anthony Hopkins as Vam Helsing. Brilliantly creative, darkly romantic and dripping with seductive passion the film stands as near perfect and the best vampire masterpiece ever created.
