Sitting on the shelf unfairly for about 3 years and originally entitled Kitchen Sink "Nature" is a monster mashup of epic proportions that was unfairly abandoned by it's studio. With only a trailer that debut days ago and a very limited run on Halloween weekend. I accidentally discovered this little gem thankfully. It takes the unique premise of a town filled with zombies, vampires and humans who are attacked by Aliens and it sends the population crashing against each other. The movie starts off strong, there is a slight lull in the middle and it finishes strong. Surprisingly it makes it's wild concept work and is so damn funny and even a little scary. The effects are impressive from the practical to the CGI space creatures done on what must have been a considerable budget. The movie is well written and directed and features solid performances from the talented cast. Especially lead man Nicholas Braun whose finally grown into his sexy stage. Also besides being 92 Mins. of chaotic entertainment filled with Vampire rants about donuts, vampire explosions and zombie disembowelment it's also emotionally resonant taking time to build it's characters and their individual stories. The overlying messages about family and individualism are touching. In the end it's a feel good genre mashup that's not perfect but has enough great stuff to make it a new cult classic. ****.25/5
