Dumped unfairly to Netflix and VOD release, this intriguing little horror thriller isn't perfect by any means but offers enough to merit a recommendation. The film centers around the survivor of a mass cult suicide who returns to the camp thirty years later with a documentary film crew in tow. Upon getting there strange things start to happen which leads them to believe that the spirits of the dead may still be there and are not happy. What ensues are some truly creepy moments gorgeous cinematography and a nice thick dread induced atmosphere. There are things that happen that feel nonsensical but overall the film is impressively stylish in the way it approaches the material. Director Phil Joanou makes a few questionable choices that merit unintentionally funny results but he gets strong performances from his cast especially Alba who hasn't been this good in a very long time. Unfortunately the film builds to a slightly convoluted finale but the journey getting there has enough of the creepy good to make for an intriguing watch. It's sad that something like this didn't make it to theaters but something as generic as the forest did. ***/5
