Since I first saw this grace the shelves at the video store in 1997 I've been a fan of this crazy ass little indie about a mutant killer snowman that terrorizes a small town on our favorite horrific holiday. The movie is actually pretty clever with it's ridiculous premise as a serial killer is transformed by toxic goo into the title snow man.
He than proceeds to go after the cop who arrested him, his family and the his hometown. The effects and death set pieces are very creative even though they're limited by budgetary constraints. It may just be one of those goofy one liner killing movies but it definitely delivers the goods. A young Shannon Elizabeth is disturbingly sexually assaulted by the villain as he places his carrot in a different spot from his face and snow plows her.
Although the movie is mean spirited it's also meant in good, absurd, dark humor. All in all it's a surprisingly fun watch that actually may be better now than when it was first released. So if you haven't seen this non Michael Keaton version of Jack Frost which is minus the schmaltz and an addition of heaps of blood and gore. Check this alternative holiday favorite out now!
