25 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS HORROR DAY XII

DIAL CODE SANTA A.K.A DEADLY GAMES A.K.A GAME OVER

1989 87 Mins. Alain Lalane, Brigitte Foley and Louis Ducreaux Star. Written and Directed by Rene Manor N/R contains language, violence and gore.

Back in 1989 before Home Alone was booming in the states came the movie it ripped off. This bad ass French Horror/ Thriller has a resourceful kid battling a psychotic Santa on Christmas Eve. His house is already booby Trapped as he is living in a mansion courtesy of his deceased father and hardworking mother. He's got tons of toys but his favorite thing to do is soldier out with camouflage, weapons and survival tactics.

I mean when I say this kid has a lot of shit, he has a lot of shit. And as far as psycho Santa is concerned he's a weirdo who tries to snowball fight kids but is turned down at the beginning and than is hired by Thomas's Mom to be the toy store Santa but ends up slapping a girl when she says he's not the real deal. He of course is fired and in retaliation goes after her son and the fight ensues. It's a fun flick and you can definitely see what Home Alone stole from it and did better.

That being said this movie is more hardcore and if violence against children is a no no for you skip this flick. The finale gets pretty crazy and is quite satisfactory. The movie is overly entertaining with some slight pacing problems and although suspenseful is never really scary. But the wealth of imagination that went into this is quite impressive and that alone is worth seeking out. The film is currently available on Shudder under deadly games.

RATING = 8 killer Santas out of 10
