I've just finished Episode 1 of Hotel aptly titled Checking In. And I'm such a Fan! I'm loving everything about this new season especially the fact that feels more like the first season and that was the best and as far away from Freak show as you can possibly get, and that's for the best. In the first episode we meet a cast of intriguing characters and set up a lot of plot lines. But most impressive here, besides the disturbing imagery is how stylized it is. And the style is a reflection of the horror that beats beneath it. There's something hollow but thick about the surroundings and the people that populate it well I think some of them are people at least. The show's creep factor has once again zoomed way up from an anal rape scene with a diamond studded sharp dildo, to a blood soaked orgy and way way beyond. As for the performances, Gaga is rich and delicious in the lead and although she has a limited amount of scenes she leaves an impression, I'm excited to see what she can do. Bomer has never looked or performed better and O' Hare has finally been given a completely different role. Paulson of course shines as usual and Bentley is so handsome and interesting in his role. All in all it's an intriguing first hour filled with a creeptastic factor way off the charts. Not every moment is where it should be and not every story is as intriguing as the others but it's the first episode and if only half of these plot lines materialize it will be the best season yet and weirded than ever! ****.5/5
